A confined space is a place which is of an enclosed nature (though not always entirely) and requires specialised confined space contractors such as CSC Services.  Confined space working brings with it the risk of serious injury or death. This can occur from hazardous substances or conditions within the space or nearby such as:

  • Lack of oxygen
  • Difficult access or egress
  • Gaseous atmosphere
  • Explosive atmosphere
  • Risk of drowning

CSC Services (Confined Space Contractor Services) are experienced confined space contractors with many years of knowledge accumulated whilst working on UK water authority, Power and Nuclear Power Station contracts. CSC Services have worked on countless confined space contracts.

Latest Projects

CSC Services removed and replaced air pad parts at the base of a lime silo at Glengap Water Treatment Works. Supported by Mines Rescue Service, CSC Services used an A-frame, hoist and bosuns chair arrangement to enter the confined space.  One of the outlet valves to the silo was removed to improve ventilation with access to the silo through the top of the structure. The Hydrated and Quicklime in the silo posed a serious health risk. Following careful planning to produce a safe system of work and wearing the appropriate respiratory device and approved PPE CSC Service operatives were able to remove and replace the filters.

As confined space specialists CSC Services were recently asked to perform an internal coatings refurbishment job at Relic Service Reservoir for Scottish Water.
