CSC Services recently completed a critical injection resin project at a water treatment plant, targeting cracks in a bunded area where water was seeping through construction joints. To tackle this challenge, our team used a hydrophobic polyurethane foam, a fast-acting solution that reacts on contact with water to quickly halt leaks and prevent future water ingress.
With decades of experience in injection resin technology, CSC Services delivers reliable results on every project.
Mark Lemon, our Managing Director, explains the process:
“Surface preparation is the foundation of any successful refurbishment. The concrete must be thoroughly cleaned to remove contaminants. Cracks are blown clean with dry air, allowing the resin to flow freely. The resin is then injected under pressure, either through inlet ports attached directly over the crack, or via holes drilled to intersect the crack.
For larger projects, pumps with integrated measuring and mixing equipment ensure the resin is perfectly combined and distributed. On smaller projects, we often use a hand pressure gun for precise application.”
The choice of resin depends on the type of repair required:
Structural Repairs: Epoxy resins are ideal when the repaired area must match or exceed the strength of the surrounding concrete. Epoxies cure slowly, allowing them to penetrate even the tiniest crevices while providing high compressive strength.
Waterproofing Repairs: Polyurethane resins are perfect for stopping leaks or repairing actively leaking cracks. Hydrophobic polyurethane foams begin to harden and expand on contact with water, filling voids and reducing the risk of material escaping during injection.
This careful selection ensures that every repair is long-lasting, effective and suited to the specific needs of the structure.
By using hydrophobic polyurethane foam, CSC Services can swiftly address water ingress issues while providing durable, high-quality repairs. Our expertise ensures that even challenging leaks in critical infrastructure are managed safely and efficiently, protecting both the plant and its operations for years to come.
