Protective Coatings for Biomass Plant

CSC Services are to install protective coatings to the new rail offload areas at Lynemouth Biomass Power Station in Northumberland for leading construction and civil engineering company Sir Robert McAlpine.

The original coal-fired plant has recently been converted into a biomass-fuelled power plant that will receive over one million tonne of wooden pellets imported from US and Canada each year.

CSC Services have worked closely with coatings manufacturer Flexcrete to provide the optimum abrasion resistant coating specification which will guarantee the steelwork at the plant for twenty years.

Mark Lemon, Managing Director of CSC Service said:

“This contract will allow CSC Services to develop its successful portfolio of technically diverse projects for power sector clients across the UK.

“As more energy companies begin to fully or part-convert power stations into biomass plants, there is significant scope for the application of protective coatings across new structures, particularly where enhanced chemical and abrasion resistance is needed. This is an exciting time for CSC Services.”
