About About

About

CSC Services was established in 2002. Initially sub-contracting to several UK Water companies, CSC Services built up a broad range of experience as a confined spaces specialist working on contracts to repair and refurbish service reservoirs, water towers and associated structures.

In 2014, CSC Services completed its first contract in the UK power industry for EDF Energy at Hartlepool Power Station during the statutory outage. This involved concrete repair work and leak sealing to the inlet and outlet culverts and drumscreens. Since then CSC Services have gone on to work at Power Stations across the UK.

Recent Contracts

In 2018, CSC Services completed essential maintenance work at Hartlepool Power Station for client EDF Energy. Inlet and outlet culverts; cooling water intake areas and water boxes were refurbished during the the planned shut-down of one of the reactors. Working for EDF Energy’s contact partner Cape, CSC Services also installed a cathodic protection system to the drumscreen chamber.

Earlier this year, CSC Services installed a chemical resistant coating to part of the water treatment plant at Dungeness B Power Station for EDF Energy.  CSC Services are currently completing the 2018 Concrete Remediation programme at Hinkley Point B Power Station following the successful completion of last year’s programme where specialist repair mortars and structural strengthening products were used to rectify the degradation of reinforced concrete at various areas across the station. Work has also been completed for Anglian Water, Nomenca and the NHS across hospital buildings.

Other work completed in 2017 includes the application of a cementitious coating system to protect the new steel piling in the materials handling facility at Lynemouth Power Station. A polyurethane protective coating system was installed to a filter tank for United Utilities to provide effective corrosion and erosion resistance. The life-span of a pumping station wet well was significantly increased for Anglian Water with a cementitious coating system, following its structural repair.

Other contracts completed for EDF Energy include the installation of a flagship Sika Liquid Roofing System at Hartlepool Power Station, and a Corrosion Control Coating System at Hinkley Point B Power Station.

Commitment to Health and Safety

Power generation plants in particular are potentially dangerous environments, where so much depends on the meticulous attention to detail that keeps operations running safely and smoothly. In an environment containing nuclear reactors safety has to be the top priority. CSC Services’ safety record is exceptional. CSC Services are OHSAS 18001 certified, and are audited by Achilles UVDB, where a 100% pass rate was achieved in both 2017 and 2018.

Working with coatings manufacturers

CSC Services promotes ‘partnership’ working with a range of suppliers. This involves undertaking relevant training and learning about new products, so the best possible advice and solutions can be offered to clients. A products portfolio has been produced. This has been independently compiled by CSC Services to offer clients a clear guide to the many specialist coating products available. It outlines the relevant merits of each product and describes recent projects in which the product has been used. Where possible CSC Services take a proactive role in communicating with manufacturers to ensure products are adapted and improved for the benefit of the industry.
