Leak Sealing by Resin Injection Crack Repair
Restoring Watertight Integrity in a Busy City Centre Building
CSC Services recently completed a resin injection crack repair project on a basement structure in the heart of Newcastle. The building had begun to experience water ingress, and with its durability and watertightness compromised, a fast and reliable repair was essential. Our team was brought in to identify the leak paths, seal the cracks and restore long-term protection to the structure.
Using the Right Polyurethane Resin for the Job
For this project, we selected a high-performance Polyurethane Resin to halt the water ingress and permanently seal the affected areas. Choosing the correct resin is a critical part of any repair, as different products perform differently depending on moisture levels and substrate conditions. In this case, the resin needed to bond reliably, even in wet conditions, ensuring a strong mechanical seal once injected.
Precise Resin Injection to Stop Active Leaks
After pinpointing the areas of direct ingress, our operatives drilled 100mm-deep injection points into the basement walls at 45-degree angles towards the leak source. Injection packers were then installed and the leak sealing resin was introduced under controlled pressure.
This process was repeated across all affected locations until the ingress had been fully stopped and the cracks were sealed.
Installing Overbanding for Long-Term Movement Protection
To complete the repair and provide additional durability, we installed overbanding strips across the treated cracks. These pre-formed, highly elastic membranes provide waterproofing in areas where ongoing movement is expected, adding an extra layer of assurance for the building owner.
Supporting Structures Across the UK
Alongside basement repairs, CSC Services has extensive experience delivering resin injection and leak sealing solutions across a wide range of structures, including service reservoirs, tunnels and culverts.
