To date we have completed Phase 1 of the works which proved to be the most difficult piece of the programme, having lots of spalling to repair in a very busy and difficult location. Phase 1 of the programme took approximately four months to complete and we are now two months into Phase 2 of the works which is due to be completed in late June. Throughout this programme of work, both myself and CSC Services have had to carefully plan each section of work to minimise disruption so that clinical services could continue with their daily activities, this proving very difficult alongside ITU and NNU.
To restore structural integrity, our team began by carefully removing all unsound and spalled concrete, exposing the affected reinforcement. Once prepared, the steel was treated with a protective coating designed to re-passivate the surface and guard against further corrosion. We then rebuilt the damaged areas using Flexcrete Monomix HD, a high-performance repair mortar chosen for its strength, durability, and waterproofing properties.
To provide long-term protection, we applied a cementitious coating that created a robust barrier against moisture and chloride ingress. This not only restored the original concrete cover but also enhanced durability well into the future. Throughout the project, our team worked seamlessly with the client to ensure safe delivery, full compliance with public sector requirements, and minimal impact on day-to-day operations.
By completing these concrete remediation works, CSC Services extended the life of critical public sector assets and safeguarded them against further deterioration. The client now has durable, reliable infrastructure that will continue to perform safely and effectively for years to come.
