CSC Services return to West Burton Power Station this week. Refurbishment of the station’s coal track hopper will be completed for client Cape.
The coal track hopper at West Burton Power Station receives coal discharged directly from train wagons. Historically, up to 6m tonnes of coal per annum have passed through the hopper since the station was commissioned in 1967. Consequently, the hopper has been subject to prolonged abrasion and chemical corrosion.
CSC Services will refurbish the cantilever section of the hopper to enable it to perform until the end of the station’s life. CSC Services will remove and replace all existing steelwork and steel plates. The scheme of work will incorporate hydro-demolition, specialist drilling, restorative grout work and specialist steel fixing.
