Sika MonoTop 610, a cementitious polymer modified primer was used to protect exposed areas of rebar, and Sika MonoTop 615 was used to complete repairs across the North Wing of the building.
The aim of the repairs was to prolong future use of the building. To protect against further carbonation Sika MonoTop 620 has been installed. This cementitious smoothing coat will block the pores in the concrete to reduce absorption of water and salts.
This work follows on from repair work undertaken at the site earlier in the year to the main ward block. With patient and public safety core drivers of the project, repair materials will be hand applied. On sensitive sites such as hospitals, CSC Services can use a range of concrete protection products and application methods to minimise disruption.
All work undertaken was in accordance with the BSEN1504 standard, in which all operatives are fully trained. All operatives receive training from product manufacturers to ensure all products are installed correctly to exact specification.
