Failed epoxy coatings were removed from the bund walls, floors, walkways, staircases and handrails.
Deep cleaning of pipework, plant and equipment was undertaken using High Pressure Water Jetting and steam cleaning.
A Sikalastic 625 System incorporating glass reinforced fibre matting and an anti-slip finish was installed.
Mick Flounders, Contracts Director at CSC Services explains:
“The Sikalastic range of coatings are single component, cold applied liquid waterproofing membranes, that cure to form a seamless, durable and weather resistant waterproofing solution for exposed areas. “This coating was specified as it is cold applied, completely eliminating the risk of fire, and once installed achieves a high fire rating. Sikalastic is capable of curing in a range of conditions, making them ideal for use in unpredictable UK climate”.
With a 10-year guarantee from Sika Liquid Plastics, the waterproof coating system will outlast the life expectancy of the Ferrous Sulphate Plant at Hartlepool Station.
