Leak Sealing to Cable Trench Covers

Leak Sealing to Cable Trench Covers

CSC Services recently completed essential leak sealing works to cable trench covers at Hartlepool Power Station on behalf of EDF Energy. The station had been experiencing persistent water ingress due to deterioration of the original concrete cable covers – an issue that had begun to affect the fire protection system within the Turbine Hall Cable Tunnels. Our team was brought in to deliver a robust, long-lasting solution without disrupting operations.

Understanding the Challenge

Water ingress in critical cable routes poses operational risk, safety concerns and potential system failures if left unresolved. At Hartlepool Power Station, ongoing moisture was affecting the efficiency and reliability of the fire protection system. With limited access and the need to keep essential fixtures in place, a tailored repair strategy was required.

Approach to Leak Sealing

CSC Services carried out a full assessment of the damaged cable trench covers before installing a targeted leak sealing system. Using high-performance repair materials and specialist resin injection techniques, our team eliminated the water ingress without the need for additional civil works. All repairs were completed while existing fixtures remained in position, ensuring minimal disruption and cost-effective delivery.

Results & Client Feedback

The results were immediate. Moisture levels within the cable tunnels dropped significantly, restoring confidence in the performance of the fire protection system and safeguarding the surrounding infrastructure.

Our client praised both the quality of the work and the value delivered:

"CSC Services did a brilliant job. The job went really well and the positives have been seen instantly, as there has been a significant reduction in moisture, which I hope will stay away.

CSC Services provided a fully comprehensive service and solution to an issue that we have had for some time. We had an issue of water ingress into one of our fixture holing pits which was creating a health and safety issue. CSC Services have eradicated the water ingress issue without any additional civil work, with the fixture still in position. In terms of quality and cost, CSC Services have provided a perfect solution, I would not hesitate to use them again in the future."
