CSC completes recoating project for manufacturing plant

Our team recently undertook full recoating work within a UK manufacturing site.  This job required careful set-up and planning so as not to impact the working plant.

Ensuring the Protection of Existing Plant

Upon initial site visit, we identified all existing plant resources and equipment that needed to remain in place throughout the recoating project. This posed challenges due to limited access and the potential risk of contaminating the client’s manufacturing equipment.  Our experienced technicians are trained in the use of various access equipment, and deployed specialised equipment, designed for scenarios with limited access.

They ensured set-up and manoeuvring processes of the access equipment could be done safely without any risk to personnel or sensitive equipment within the working area.

Furthermore, all sensitive equipment within the area was protected, including the safeguarding of all equipment, pipework, and fire systems to prevent any disruptions to service.

Surface Preparation for Coating Application

To prepare the surfaces for the new coating, a combination of hand and dustless surface preparation equipment was utilised. The surfaces were meticulously cleaned until they met the cleanliness standards as outlined in the Flexcrete Biodex Sheen Product Data Sheet.

About the Product

Flexcrete Biodex Sheen is a tough, semi-gloss hygienic coating that uses encapsulated in-film protectant and silver ions to prevent micro-organisms from growing and the spread of harmful germs.  It has an ultra-low VOC biostatic coating, typically specified in hygienic environments requiring durability and efficacy.  With an extremely quick drying time it allows for multiple coats to be applied over relatively quick timescales.

Coating Application and Result

After thorough inspection of the cleaned surfaces by both the CSC Services Technician Supervisor and the client engineer, the coating application process began. This involved priming any exposed concrete surfaces before applying two coats of Flexcretes Biodex Sheen.

Throughout the project, CSC Services technicians collaborated closely with all site operations to ensure the protection and safety of all personnel and staff.

Works were completed on nightshift basis to meet the needs of the client’s ongoing operations. Despite the challenges, the project was completed on time, within budget, and with exceptional results, with exceptional effort from the CSC Services team.
