A top nuclear technical journal has published best practice advice by Mark Lemon, Managing Director of CSC Services on refurbishment solutions to the ageing concrete of nuclear power plants.

Published since 1956 Nuclear Engineering International is circulated to professionals involved in the construction, management and operation of nuclear power plants and other utility projects across the world.

The article outlines some of the typical refurbishment solutions that can be used to rectify the ageing, carbonation or degradation of concrete including cathodic protection, protective coatings and rebar protection or strengthening. The article includes case study material of refurbishment work completed by CSC Services across several EDF Energy Power Stations. Good practice advice in the installation of repair mortars and protective coatings is also provided.
